Megan and Joe A Multi Day Flathead Lake Wedding Celebration Big Fork, Montana | September 20-21, 2025
A Destination Wedding That Felt Like Home Joe and Megan traveled from Boston, Massachusetts to Big Fork, Montana for a wedding that felt less like a single day and more like a full weekend experience shared with the people they love most. While Boston is where they live, Montana has long felt like home. Megan’s parents live near Red Lodge, and over time, the state became a place they returned to again and again. When it came time to decide where to get married, Montana felt like the natural choice. Not just for the scenery, but for the way it holds people. Open, grounding, and deeply connected to nature. From the very beginning, Joe and Megan knew they wanted their wedding to feel fun, adventurous, and immersive. They wanted their guests to experience the place they love the way they experience it themselves, fully and without rush.
Why Film Mattered to Them For Joe and Megan, wedding film was essential. They wanted a way to preserve the moments of their wedding weekend not only for themselves, but also for the family members who could not be there in person, especially grandparents who were unable to travel. Film allowed them to share the experience in a way that felt honest and complete.
They were drawn to a documentary approach. Something that captured everything as it happened, without interruption. A film that felt like watching the movie of their entire weekend rather than a collection of isolated highlights. They were especially excited to relive their rehearsal day and their first look, moments that were deeply personal and full of emotion. More than anything, they wanted to preserve the most important moments of their lives exactly as they felt.
A Weekend That Began With Play The celebration began the day before the wedding at Flathead Lake Lodge with a rehearsal day designed entirely around guest experience. What followed felt more like a summer camp for adults than a traditional rehearsal. Pickleball competitions, line dancing, boot branding, horseback riding, water activities, and volleyball tournaments filled the day with laughter and connection. There were no formal speeches during the rehearsal day. Just movement, joy, and the kind of energy that comes from people feeling completely at ease with one another. It set the tone for the entire weekend.
Wedding Morning at Flathead Lake Lodge On the morning of the wedding, Joe and Megan got ready in separate cabins on the property. On the girls’ side, the energy was peaceful and serene. Megan got ready alongside her bridesmaids and her mom, surrounded by soft conversations and a sense of calm. Everything moved slowly and intentionally. On the boys’ side, the energy was playful and full of laughter. Joe and his groomsmen got ready together, easing into the day with jokes and excitement. Both spaces reflected exactly who they are. Different energies, perfectly balanced.
A Ceremony at Wayfarers State Park Joe and Megan chose Wayfarers State Park for their ceremony because of how it sits just above the water. The location felt natural and open, with the lake stretching out behind them and the surrounding landscape grounding the moment. One of Joe’s best friends officiated the ceremony, adding warmth and humor throughout. Rather than exchanging vows during the ceremony, Joe and Megan chose to share private vows during their first look earlier in the day. The ceremony itself was filled with laughter, including a moment where the officiant joked about how Joe and Megan described their wedding as “practical,” despite the fact that it required traveling by plane, bus, horse, and bike to attend. Witnessing the ceremony as filmmakers was incredibly special. Hearing stories about Joe growing up and watching the way Megan fits so naturally into his life made the depth of their connection unmistakable.
Planning a Multi Day Wedding Celebration?
If you are dreaming of a wedding weekend that feels immersive, intentional, and centered around connection, we would love to tell your story.
A Celebration That Brought Everyone Together The reception took place in the horse barn at Flathead Lake Lodge, and the energy shifted immediately. Guests were led from the main lodge to the reception space in a spontaneous walk, guided by a giant boombox. From that moment on, the night unfolded into full celebration. The dance floor stayed packed, the music was incredible, and the energy was unfiltered and joyful. Standout moments included a best man speech that rewrote the lyrics of “Farmer’s Daughter” into “Rancher’s Daughter,” and a heartfelt speech from Megan’s dad reflecting on his college years with Joe’s dad. The night ended exactly how it should have. Surrounded by love, laughter, and people who showed up fully for Joe and Megan.
What Made This Weekend So Unique This wedding felt different because it was never just about one day. It was a multi day celebration centered entirely around guest experience. Every part of the weekend was designed with intention and care for the people they love. The weather brought challenges. The rehearsal day was bright and sunny, while the wedding day brought rain. It was frustrating at times, but the rain cleared just enough for the ceremony to take place. Our favorite quote from the weekend became, “It’s harder to untie a wet knot.” Things do not always go as planned, but that does not mean they are ruined. One moment we will never forget is the overwhelming sense of closeness and support surrounding Joe and Megan. The care people had for them was unmistakable.
A Final Reflection Joe and Megan are dependable, independent, and deeply rooted in the life they are building together. They are people who love the country life and found the one person they feel safest with. Years from now, we hope their film brings them back to the feeling of that weekend. The joy. The love. The sense of creating something unforgettable not just for themselves, but for everyone they love. This wedding represents the kind of stories we love to tell. Stories where celebration becomes experience and intention shapes every moment.
Quiet Moments in the Middle of It All Joe and Megan were intentional about carving out moments just for themselves throughout the day. Their first look took place in a flower garden, where they shared private vows filled with hugs, deep breaths, and quiet reassurance. After the ceremony, they stepped away again for portraits with horses, allowing themselves a pause before rejoining the celebration. These moments stood in contrast to the energy of the rest of the weekend. Calm, grounding, and fully present. Moments like these matter in wedding storytelling because they allow couples to truly experience what they are living, not just move through it.
